Thank yous and Vegetables

So first off I have to thank Simon of Simon's Ramblings. Not only are you a brilliant blogger, you gave me some brilliant advice. Have an award if you wish:

Photobucket

(it's photo bucket approved ;))

I also want to give a big thank you to Eric of Bored Neoclassical Guy who also had some good ideas (feel free to add the award as well) and he also mentioned me in this awesome post about glass. I am flattered.

Now- onto the vegetables!

Some things in our garden have taken on mutant proportions.

mainly the spinach- which we decided to rip out. I may or may not plant more seeds tomorrow.

Rest in peace mutant spinach.

I also picked lots of peas and beans and lettuce.

I also saw that my tomato and pepper plants were coming along (and everyone said I couldn't grow peppers in northern Alberta, Ha!)

Anyway, I chopped up the beans and peas with carrots and zucchini (also from our garden)

and cooked them up with a couple of chicken breasts in olive oil and chicken stock with thyme salt and pepper. Mmmm. oh and some onion.

Soo good. I would of taken a pic of it all finished, but hunger took over and I forgot :)

Our chives are just starting to come back now. And our rosemary plant is taking over. Pity we've killed everything else. If we can just get the olive tree to fruit this year, I could die happy.

That is really cool that you have a garden. Free food!

I also wanted to let you know I started a website where artist can promote their work for free. Take a look http://thekali.ning.com

Thanks, Valerie – but it doesn’t work properly, does it? Or not as I assumed you wanted it to.

I’ve spent a while looking through various JavaScript sites all explaining how bloody simple an image swap on mouse rollover is, but it was only about the fifth piece of code that actually worked.

Look in the sidebar of my blog – between the clock and the Sunday Secrets badges – and see if that’s what you had in mind. It appears as the tie-dye tee, and changes to the white tee when you move the mouse over it, and opens The Caped Tirader’s blog (in a new window, though that’s optional) when you left-click on it. You can of course have the images appearing the other way round if you want.

I’ll email you the code (I’d paste it here, but if I put it in a comment, the HTML code will either be executed or omitted) so you’ll be able to try it out yourself.

Mr.C- thanks. mm, radishes are good with the peas in a salad. I wasn't allowed to plant radishes in my garden though

Simon- thanks. Sent you back an email :)

Thanks for the holler back! It has always been obvious from your blog that you are a glass artist, and it fascinates me because I don't know much about glass.

ps - I might have to take you up on the glass creation thing. After the Ravenna class, I'll be needing some smalti for sure.

Yum! Feed me please, lol.

Wow! This makes me so jealous I don't live somewhere where I can have a garden. Looks great!

Eric- no problem. And I've been going a little crazy looking up smalti info. I could even do some cool things with lampwork inserts using the method for the gold ones. I'm pretty sure I'll make some just for fun. And you should really try a glass class- for anything, but I recommend lampworking or glass blowing- it could add some cool elements to your work.

Krysten- come on over! We have sooooo much extra!

90's child- I think I may be a bit of a freak because I always had some kind of garden... even if it was in pots under lamps, but if you can't have a proper garden the best is to make friends with someone who does- there's always extras!

Dutch donut girl- thanks! at least you're eating veggies!

Young Mom/Wife- thanks! Good luck. I look forward to hearing about it on your blog :)

How I wish that I had a garden. It's a bit difficult to grow yummy vegetables in a London flat. My housemate had a small tomato plant in a pot on the windowsill. She couldn't work out why the flowers were producing no fruit, until I pointed out that flowers need to be pollenated by bees.
Being the clever girl that I am, I pollenated the flowers myself, and am now the proud parent of four juicy tomatoes which I will eat with gusto.

you are very clever indeed Maisie. I used to try all sorts of indoor gardens before I moved into a house. And I was luck enough to life in a duplex once with a bit porch.
